    Gokyo Lake 14 Days Trekking 

     

      Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Ri Trek is a beautiful journey to the enticing Gokyo Lakes ,Gokyo Ri, and towards the famous Thyangboche monastery. The Gokyo Lake Trek start's from Lukla town , after taking a short, but interesting flight from Kathmandu. We then follow the Dudh Koshi river towards Namche, the gateway of the Khumba region , passing through traditional cultural village's and serene alpine woodland.
    After Namche, we branch off from main trail toward's the sleepy village's of Phortse Thanga, Dole and Machhermo. The Marchhermo village is partially sheltered from the wind, by steep hillside spur's to the North and South with a tremendous view of the rocky amphitheater that block's the glen to the west.
     From Machhermo the landscape dramatically change's, to broad pasture's , narrow cleft's, with steeply climbing trail's, stream's to cross, and stoney waste's , which continue up to the third lake Dudh Pokhari, a beautiful turquoise in colour , and reflecting the white face of Cho-oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world.
    Ahead we can see our final destination Gokyo Lake.From the summit of Gokyo Ri, you can absorb the once in a life time view's of the Himalaya's including Mt.Everest (8,848 m.) Lhotse (8,516 m.) Nuptse (7,855 m.) Mt.Cho-Oyu (8,201 m.) Amadablam (6,812 m.) Kangtenga (6,782 m.) Tharmarserku (6,623 m.)  Kwangde (6,011 m.) Kusum Khanguru (6,373 m.) Holi peak Khumbi-la (5,761 m.) and as far 5'' highest Mt.Makalu (8,463 m.) but to name a few.
    From here you can aslo see the Largest Glacier in Nepal named Ngozumpa apart from this you can aslo view the tremendous ice ridge between Cho-Oyu and Gyachung Kung (7,922 m.)  one of the most dramatic panoramic views of the Gokyo Lake Trek. From the Gokyo Ri, the trek continue's, leading into beautiful alpine woodland, to the beautiful Tayangboche Monastery surrounded by the mountain peak's, including, Mt.Everest and the majestic Mt.Amadgblam. Finally this most memorable and unforgetable trek concludes back at the town of Lukla, with the unforgetable flight back too Kathmandu.

    Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m)
    Day 02: Rest day in Kathmandu trek preparation day. 
    Day 03: Fly to Lukla (40 min) and trek to Phakding (2,610m), 3-4 hours
    Day 04: Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), 5-6 hours
    Day 05: Acclimatization Day
    Day 06: Trek from Namche to Dole (4,200 m), 4-5 hours
    Day 07: Trek from Dole to Machhermo (4,470 m), 4-5 hours
    Day 08: Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo (4,790 m), 3-4 hours

  • Detail Itinerary
    • Day 1 Arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport of Kathmandu
      You are greeted with a warm welcome from our staff at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. Then you are whisked away to your hotel in private transportation where our guide will brief on the programs on days ahead.
    • Day 2 Rest day in Kathmandu trek preparation day.
      We will prepare for the days ahead of us, introducing to your guide, briefing about the trek. We will also need your passport with Nepal's visa as well for to receive permit on the restricted areas ahead.
    • Day 3 Kathmandu to Lukla-via flight to Phakding (3,792m, 2-3 hours)
      After breakfast, we will take an early morning flight to Lukla, situated at the elevation of 2860 meters. This town has plenty of shops and lodges catering to trekkers with western style meals and trail supplies. This marks as the begining of our trek to Everest Base Camp. Having crossing a gateway with painted message, the path is generally downhill forwards. You will encounter breathtaking views of Kusum Kangure Peak on Thulo Khola suspension bridge. From there the trail will take 2-3 hours walk to arrive at Phakding, a quiet and easy to explore village where you will be catered to your first outdoors dinner.
    • Day 4 Trek from Phakding to Namche (3,440m, 5-6 hours)
      A forest of blue pine along the western banks of Dudh Koshi river accompanies you to your destination of Benkar village. The trail then crosses the eastern banks of Dudh Koshi river besides a large rock etched with buddhist prayers, the classic Mani Wall. After twenty minutes, we will reach to the village of Chumao. Next passages on the trail will be less steeply to climb, crisscrossing through Bhote Koshi on the way to reach Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) taking about 7 hours of time. The world famous trekking village of Namche settled in the Sagarmatha National Park will greet you with the views of Red Musk Beer and Himalayan Thar along with scared mountains of Thamserku, Kumsum Kangure and Khumbila.
    • Day 5 Rest day at Namche
      While the demanding climb up from the river to Namche is about 3-4 hours, many of us might not do well in the elevation of 3,440 meters. Thus it is recommended that we stay one night in the village of Namche to acclimatize. During our rest day at Namche, we will take a excursion to the Everest View point Hotel and Edmund Hillary School of Khumjung.
    • Day 6 Trek from Namche to Dole (4,200m, 5-6 hours)
      The chorten mark path extends from Namche Bazaar and shortly the twin peaks of Thamserku soar into the sky at the east. Well known legend of Yeti is still alive here along with the Yeti-scalp preserved in Khumjung’s red-walled gompa. Ahead, we descend to reach Kumbila after a large chorten marking to the top of the ridge. Khumbila (5761) is the abode of the patron god of the Khumbu region close to the settlement believed to be the birth place of the lama who introduced Buddhism to the area. The trek continues descending from Phortse Tenga on the bank of Dudh Koshi. The trail then follows the river passing rhododendron, birch forest and Cho Oyu becomes visible through the blooms before reaching the Dole.
    • Day 7 Trek from Dole to Machhermo (4,150m, 4-5 hours)
      From Dole you climb steadily along the side of the valley, where small and thorny bushes give way to scrub juniper as the altitude increases. The trail passes many summer settlements. The view ahead of you presents majestic views of Cho Oyu, while back down the valley are the peaks of Kantega and Thamserku. This is a short day and you will arrive at Machhermo in time for lunch.
    • Day 8 Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo (4,750m,3-4 hour's)
      Today you head for the lakes at Gokyo. You follow a very scenic path to Pangka and then descend slightly, following one of the melted-water Rivers which flow down the west side of the Ngozumpa Glacier. You climb a steep rocky incline into the valley by the side of the glacier, passing the first of the holy lakes. You soon arrive at the second of the lakes, crossing the path which heads across the glacier to Cho La (5420m.), and your route to Lobuche. The third lake is known as Dudh Pokhari and on its eastern shore is the settlement of Gokyo.
    • Day 9 Gokyo Valley: Climb Gokyo Ri (5357m,2-3 hur's) and Back to Gokyo.
      We spend another day in Gokyo to acclimatize to the high altitude. If the weather is good, we climb Gokyo Ri today. From the top of Gokyo Ri we admire the Himalayan vista and the tranquil Gokyo lakes. if you are intestade .....We also hike to the fourth and the fifth Gokyo lakes. The 4th lake is only about 3km north of Gokyo. It is marked by high cliffs and Himalayan peaks rising above it. We continue to walking a little further and reach the 5th lake. A climb up a nearby hill will guarantee us remarkable views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu. We can see a lot more from here - the spot is called Scoundrel's Viewpoint. From the northern part of the 5th lake we see the Cho Oyu base camp and Ngazumpa Glacier which is the biggest glacier the world. We walk back to Gokyo.
    • Day 10 Trek from Gokyo lake to Trek down to Dole
      We descend on a trail along the Dudh Koshi River and pass the first Gokyo lakes. On the way we also enjoy views of the Cholatse and Taboche peaks. Our trail descends before climbing a hill. After reaching the chorten at the edge, we see great views of Thamserku, Cho Oyu, and Kangtega mountains. We walk past Machhermo, Luza and Lhafarma villages before reaching Dole.
    • Day 11 Trek from Dole to Namche Bazaar
      The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri trek then follows downhill as we take a look behind towards Cho Oyu. We walk down today enjoying great waterfalls, enjoying interaction with local Himalayan flora, fauna and rhododendron trees beautifully blooming at spring season of the year. While descending down the valley, there come the chances when we get an dual opportunities towards reviewing the snow capped Himalayan views of Amadablam, Tawache, Thamserku and other peaks along with far view of Tengboche too from Mongla. Carrying on our journey, we descend towards Sansa that connects us to the main Everest trail taking us at Namche Bazaar. After arriving at Namche Bazaar, we take a complete rest, enjoy free shower at hotel and relax at your overnight stay quality hotel in Namche.
    • Day 12 Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla
      From Namche passing through Phakding we will be arriving Lukla. On the way, you will be crossing suspension bridges over Dudh Koshi and its many tributaries along side rhododendron and lush greenery of pine forests.
    • Day 13 Flight to Kathmandu.
      We will be going to Kathmandu through Lukla airport. On the way you'll be receiving the pleseant farewell from the sights of entire Himalayan range, east to the center part till the Langtang Himalayan range. You will be whisked away to Thamel after your arrival at domestic terminal, afterwards there will be post trek meeting with feedback section to share you expreience and thoughts on the trek.
    • Day 14 Departure from Tribhuwan International Airport
      Our staff will be ready to drive our customers to the airport at least three hours before the scheduled departure.
